Join us Sunday, July 4, 2010 for our 4th Annual Church at the Pool.

We host – to our knowledge – the world first and only poolside worship service, and we’d love for you to join us.

The Church at the Pool Story

This whole idea started in 2007, when we were looking for ways to use Kroc Center recreational equipment as tools for worship.  We gravitated to the idea that a unique experience of fellowship and fun would build relationships and unlock new dimensions of spiritual truth.  We’ve held high-dive contests, we’ve soaked the preacher in the dunk-tank, and we’ve raised money for worthy causes.  All this and more at our annual Church at the Pool!

This Year’s Activities

This year, we have some fun new activities and games in mind.  Here’s a teaser:

  • Tug O’ War in the Rec Pool
Two teams of daring, caring individuals will battle for supremacy in 4′ of water.  Will the strongest players win, or is this a match pitting brains against brawn?
  • Kitchen Relay
You’re serving a fancy meal at a fine banquet hall, but the ballroom has just become flooded.  Never mind that, the guests must still be served!  You and a partner must transport your tray of service items safely across the pool to beat the other teams!
  • Frisbee Skip
Here’s a possibility: if we can find some lightweight skipping stones (discs), we’ll judge players on the most number of skips across the surface, the greatest distance, and the fastest retrieval!

What you need

Have a great Church at the Pool visit by coming prepared.  This list will get you started:

  • Entry Form – download now or pick up at the gate
Admission is free, but everyone needs to be included on an entry form prior to entry.  You can fill one out when you arrive, or you can speed things up by using this fillable PDF, then printing it and bringing it along!
  • Arrive On Time!
    We’ll start at 10:00 a.m.; we recommend you aim for a 9:45 a.m. arrival.
  • Waterproof Sun Screen
Stay safe in the sun!  We recommend at least SPF 15.
  • Towel
  • Family-appropriate swim attire
Kroc Center Pool Rules apply; street clothes are not permitted in the water.
  • Adequate Child Supervision
We have lifeguards,  but those little ones still need your attention.  Please think ahead, and bring enough grownups to keep the pool safe.
  • A Positive Attitude
This whole Kroc Church at the Pool idea is our way of honoring God outside of our usual comfort zone.  Come ready to have a good time: sing a little, dance a little, enjoy some laughs – and hit the high dive!
