God’s Character Revealed

Here’s a short video clip from today’s message.

We are not destined to repeat the sins of our forefathers or live in our own failures.  And this is a promise that lasts… Forever.

We have a kinsman redeemer, and his name is Jesus Christ.  He stands ready to fulfill that promise in our lives today.

Sober Fun & Fellowship – Video Highlights

On Monday, March 1, 2010, we hosted a night of games, free refreshments, music and mixing to accentuate individual lives of recovery and develop stronger bonds of fellowship within our various recovery groups.

Kroc Church’s Belinda Owens graciously hosted the Bunco game, a fun, fast-paced Yahtzee-like opportunity for everyone to yell like silly people; Chef Ross provided the snacks (special thanks to all the Food & Beverage Associates who provided support for our monthly Breakfast for Dinner, and for those ever-so-in-demand ice cream sandwiches!

We believe taking these breaks for sober fun and fellowship is vital to our continued success in personal recovery and our corporate goals.  So what’s next for sober fun? Someone suggested we go to the Kroc Center Ice Arena. Someone else suggested the Skate Park…  We’ll have to pray on that one!

First Thoughts on Boot Camp

A few of us made it to the San Diego International Airport this evening to pick up our three delegates to The Salvation Army Western Territory Boot Camp.

This is their story.

Action!

Here’s the Mother’s Day Action film from yesterday’s service.  Our congregation has committed now to sponsor one child through The Salvation Army’s Overseas Children’s Sponsorship Program, but we’ve had requests for information about individual sponsorship.  Do it here.

The Outcry

This video is the Kroc Center’s entry for the Sierra del Mar Division’s Youth Councils Video Contest.

No children were harmed during the making of this film. One bunny head was slightly injured, yet not permanently.

The Day After New Year’s

Court of Awards Videos

The two videos below highlight the hard work and accomplishments of two of tonight’s Court of Awards honoree groups.

In the first, the Girl Guards have their moment in the spotlight as the Girl Guard Aim is read, with additional narration by one of the three Girl Guard Leaders.

The 2nd video tells the story of the Sunbeams and Adventure Corps troops who worked toward their ice skating badges while enrolled in one of the Kroc Center’s professional ice skating schools.  To make things even more interesting, this video offers a brief history of jazz music!  Enjoy bits from Benny Goodman, Louis Armstrong and more – as well as a cameo appearance of a dancing Salvation Army Shield!

The Court of Awards marks the end of these wonderful youth programs for 2008.  But be sure to check the Guide for Parents page for more information about these programs, which resume in January.
