Daily Bible Readings – Week 5 of 6

In these final two weeks of our congregation’s daily Bible reading challenge, we explore an issue important to God’s heart: justice.

Scripture presents a unified front on how humans treat one another, and Jesus summed it up in his response to the question about the greatest commandment.

Daily Bible Readings – Week 4 of 6

Here’s our fourth week of Daily Bible Readings.  Enjoy!

And as you do (enjoy), use it to spark a conversation.  Challenge an old friend to join you, or use it as a conversation starter to meet someone new at church!

Daily Bible Readings – Week 3 of 6

Tomorrow, we start a new two-part survey of Scripture.  In these two weeks, we focus on the life and teachings of Jesus.

As you may have already discovered, these six weeks of readings are excellent “Introduction to the Bible” reading plans.  People often ask where to begin with the Bible.  If they ask you, you can tell ‘em to do what you did – read these very passages!

Daily Bible Reading Testimonies – Week 1 of 6

We started our six-week campaign to get our whole congregation reading the same Bible passages together, and we asked for people to share their experiences; how that week’s reading made a difference.  Here are the first three we received:

These testimonies encourage others to seek the truths of God’s Word, to come together as a family, and to discover just how well the totality of Scripture fits together.  Keep ‘em coming!

Daily Bible Reading – Week 2 of 6

Here’s a link to the first week’s reading, in case you missed it.

Daily Bible Readings – Week 1 of 6

In case you missed it, here’s the first of six Daily Bible Reading handouts.  Pick them up every Sunday at Kroc Church or download via the PDF link below.

These first two weeks’ readings serve as a great introduction to the Word.  Whether you’re a first-time reader or looking to brush up on your Scripture proficiency, these two weeks are great!

Ezekiel 36:22-28

Here’s today’s Scripture Reading, starring (some of) the Corps Cadets from Kroc Church.  The Salvation Army offers this structured youth discipleship course internationally; our own group meets on Sundays after church.

This video gives us a glimpse into some of the fun these young people create for themselves, as well as the genuine spirituality that defines their time together.

Enjoy it!

The Other Man on the Podium

I caught an interesting article from the BBC this morning about a life-long Salvationist and Olympian who turned his stand for social justice into a silent demonstration, one that destroyed his career and ruined his reputation with the establishment, but created and solidified his legacy forever.

This Salvationist, Peter Norman, is the subject of a new documentary, Salute.

The Salvation Army is active in continuing to lead the charge in social justice issues.  Ask how you can support today’s campaigns against human trafficking.  Join forces with The Salvation Army in our fight against poverty.  Stand up with those in recovery and help battle addiction.

And let’s encourage one another to stand firm, resolute, unafraid of the consequences of our stand for social justice.  Because when all is said and done, it’s worth it.  The legacy of Peter Norman proves it.

New Member Enrollment

Here’s audio from the new member enrollment on March 23, 2008.  In this enrollment, officiated by Captain Lisa Van Cleef, Captain John Van Cleef and Major Oliver Stenvick, ten new soldiers and adherents were enrolled into The Salvation Army.

We welcome the commitments and declarations of Donald Broyhill, Timothy Brunson, Joseph Ciauri, Michael Fluke, Mark Greene, Sebastian Jones, Darvis Marone, Tanya Pemberton, Jim Ridlon and Shahri Taylor, and wish them our heartiest congratulations!

The Articles of War

Download Articles of War as a PDFSo far, twelve thirteen people have registered for Soldier Training, which starts tonight! We rejoice at the knowledge that so many new members have agreed to undertake this training course, and we’re thrilled to welcome new soldiers for the fight against poverty, oppression, enslavement, addiction and the other allied forces of the enemy.

Our banner reads: “Perfect love casts out fear. Well-formed love banishes fear” (1 John 4:18).

So, the statements below – both what we believe and how we live are our declarations to pursue God with our whole hearts and bring the joy of freedom to all we know and meet. Sound like a bold statement? It sure is! We serve a bold Savior and we can’t help but share His enthusiasm! More »
